According to recent media reports, ExxonMobil has halted its attempt to drill an exploration well in the Arctic’s Kara Sea, following the announcement of new sanctions from the EU and US governments. The project was part of a joint venture with Russian state owned energy giant Rosneft.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Justice fined Sims Metal Management $189,500 for polluting San Francisco Bay with scrap metal debris in violation of the federal Clean Water Act.
