Three winning tickets announced in rich lottery

US officials have announced there are three winners in the world's largest lottery, the Mega Millions.

They said the winning tickets for the record $640 million jackpot were sold in three states.

The three winning ticket holders will be able to claim $213 million before taxes.

The rush on tickets before the draw was unprecedented.

Mega Millions tickets were sold before the weekend at the rate of about $1 million a minute.

While chances of winning were slim, people from all over the world subscribed to the lottery.
