Working mums in Europe spend just an hour a day with their kids
Working mothers in Europe spend just over an hour a day with their children, according to a new study.
The average figures include weekends - so many manage no more than a few minutes each day with their youngsters during the week.
Despite the figures, experts said working parents juggling a career with their household duties should focus on quality of time with their children rather than quantity.
British mothers manage just one hour and 21 minutes a day with their children - making them some of the busiest in Europe. In contrast, Irish working mums manage almost twice as much, reports the Daily Mail.
Of the 21 developed countries analysed, Australia came out on top with working mothers and fathers spending 105 and 69 minutes respectively, with stay at home mums and dads spending 236 and 105 minutes.
Although working mothers struggle to squeeze in their household duties around their jobs, stay-at-home mums manage two hours and 35 minutes with their children each day.
In contrast, househusbands devote just 63 minutes to their young
The data was compiled over 11 years between 1998 and 2009 by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
