Canada: Washington Army Guard combat engineers take part in international training exercise

Combat engineers from the Canadian Army and the Washington Army National Guard transport two Canadian military police vehicles up the Columbia River here using bridge boat pontoons Aug. 20 as part of training exercise Kootenay Castor 2012. The vehicles are being relocated to support the main training event of the exercise.

Anti-Nuclear Demonstrators Confront Japan's PM

Japan's prime minister -- as well as his predecessor who was in charge of the government during the Fukushima nuclear reactor meltdowns -- met Wednesday with activists who have been organizing weekly protests in front of the prime minister's office. The encounter comes amid reports the government is considering phasing out all nuclear power reactors by the year 2030.
