U.S. EPA settles with Bay Area auto aftermarket parts manufacturer for selling pollution-control bypass equipment

On April 16th, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a settlement with Advance Manufacturing Group U.S.A. Inc., an automotive parts manufacturer and distributor doing business as OBX Racing Sports, for violating the Clean Air Act. EPA alleges the company manufactured and sold auto aftermarket parts known as defeat devices, which bypass or render inoperative required emissions control systems. OBX Racing Sports, based in Union City, California, will pay a penalty of $25,000.

Greenpeace activists ship “plastic monster” back to Nestlé’s Headquarters

Greenpeace Switzerland, on April 16, activists delivered a 20 meters long “plastic monster” partly covered with Nestlé branded plastic packaging to the company’s headquarters in Vevey, calling on the corporation to end its reliance on single-use plastic. Activists also held protests at Nestlé offices in the Philippines, Germany, Kenya, Slovenia, and its sub-brand San Pellegrino in Italy as part of a global day of action led by Greenpeace and allies from the Break Free From Plastic movement.

Greenpeace activists crash Nestlé’s Annual General Meeting with call to end plastic pollution

20 Greenpeace Switzerland activists interrupted Nestlé’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), on April 11st, by lining up in front of the shareholder audience, displaying banners that said “Nestlé stop single use” and “Nestlé, this is yours” while holding up the company’s throwaway plastic found polluting the world’s oceans. The activists then handed the plastic waste to the Nestlé executives and returned to their seats.
