EPA Proposes to Reduce Smog-Forming Pollution Transported Across State Lines
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing updates to the agency’s Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR) to address interstate air quality impacts for the 2008 ozone air quality standards. The proposed updates would reduce summertime emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) from power plants that contribute to downwind ozone problems in the eastern half of the U.S.

Agreement Sets Stage For Protection Of Popular Colorado National Forest
On Friday, conservation and recreation groups and the Forest Service settled a lawsuit that challenged how the Forest Service manages dirt bikes, all-terrain vehicles and other motor vehicles on the Pike-San Isabel National Forest. The settlement, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, is a step toward better protection for wildlife and safer and more rewarding experiences for visitors.

Parliament is first EU institution to become 100 % carbon neutral
As of 2016, the European Parliament’s irreducible carbon emissions can be fully offset, making it the first EU institution to become 100% carbon-neutral, Parliament’s Bureau (President, Vice-Presidents and Quaestors), decided some weeks ahead of COP 21 in Paris. At the same time, Parliament is continuing to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions and make better use of energy, water and paper, in line with its environmental policy to first and foremost prevent or limit emissions.

Conservation Groups Take US Fish & Wildlife Service to Court for Failures to Protect the World's Only Wild Red Wolves
Conservation groups filed a complaint late yesterday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina against the US Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) for its failure to protect the world’s only wild population of red wolves and its illegal action in authorizing the killing of a breeding female red wolf. The conservation groups involved in the litigation include the Red Wolf Coalition, Defenders of Wildlife and the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI), and are represented by the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC).
