EPA Funds Project to Reduce Harmful Refrigerants at Food Companies in Newark; $158,000 Grant to Rutgers

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $158,000 to Rutgers University to provide training and technical assistance to food production, processing, storage and distribution companies in the Newark, New Jersey area to reduce their releases of greenhouse gases.

New World Bank-Supported Project to Help Improve Forest Management in the Kyrgyz Republic

Tuesday the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved a total financing of US$ 16.11 million for the Kyrgyz Republic Integrated Forest Ecosystem Management Project (IFEMP). US$6.6 million of this financing is a concessional credit, while US$5.4 million is a grant. The Global Environment Facility will support implementation of the IFEMP project with the grant worth US$4.11 million.

EPA Funds Project to Prevent Pollution from Grocery Stores and Dairy Farms

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $80,000 to the nonprofit environmental organization Manomet for its program to help grocery stores and dairy farms in New Jersey and New York conserve energy and reduce the amount of hazardous materials they handle. Many businesses that handle hazardous materials are unprepared to withstand severe storms, which can release toxic materials into the environment.
