NIST's super quantum simulator 'entangles' hundreds of ions
NIST physicists have built a quantum simulator made of trapped beryllium ions (charged atoms) that are proven to be entangled, a quantum phenomenon linking the properties of all the particles. The spinning crystal, about 1 millimeter wide, can contain anywhere from 20 to several hundred ions.

Quantum satellite device tests technology for global quantum network: Singapore-built satellite makes and measures light particles pair by pair
Researchers at the National University of Singapore and University of Strathclyde, UK, have launched a satellite that is testing technology for a global quantum network. This image combines a photograph of the quantum device with an artist's illustration of nanosatellites establishing a space-based quantum network.

Simple attraction: Researchers control protein release from nanoparticles without encapsulation: U of T Engineering discovery stands to improve reliability and fabrication process for treatments to conditions such as spinal cord damage and stroke
For decades, biomedical engineers have been painstakingly encapsulating proteins in nanoparticles to control their release. Now, a research team led by University Professor Molly Shoichet has shown that proteins can be released over several weeks, even months, without ever being encapsulated. In this case the team looked specifically at therapeutic proteins relevant to tissue regeneration after stroke and spinal cord injury.
