Trump Imposes Tariffs on Imported Drones | WPN World People News

To reduce the United States’ reliance on Chinese drones and related components and create more market opportunities for domestic suppliers, the White House issued a national security statement on the 13th. President Donald John Trump formally signed a proclamation imposing tariffs of 10% to 100% on imported drones and related components.

According to the statement, drones weighing more than 25 kilograms and meeting certain size or functional criteria, which are considered more sensitive to national security, will be subject to a 100% tariff. Small drones that are not considered national-security-sensitive will face a 25% tariff. For countries that have reached trade agreements with the United States, a 15% tariff will apply as long as the relevant hardware and technology originate from the country concerned and the United States.

Products subject to the 100% tariff will take effect after September 3. For less-sensitive products, as well as products approved by the U.S. Department of Defense and placed on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) exemption list within 20 days of Trump signing the proclamation, implementation of the new tariffs will be delayed for six months.
At present, the European Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, all of which have reached trade agreements with the United States, will be subject to a 15% tariff on drones, while the United Kingdom will face a 10% tariff.
