South Korean Military, Police, and Firefighters Conduct Joint Exercise Simulating North Korean Assault on Seoul
According to media reports, North Korea has recently launched a series of missiles, causing tensions to rise on the Korean Peninsula. In response to a possible North Korean surprise attack, thousands of South Korean military, police and firefighters conducted a joint defense drill in Seoul on the 27th, which included maintaining power, water and communication facilities under a surprise attack. The government has also said that it will deepen South Korea's sense of crisis with the Ha war.
The report pointed out that the mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-hoon, said: "Seoul, with a population of 9.4 million people, is only 38 kilometers away from North Korea, and has a special geographic position. Israel's advanced defense system was unable to hold up under the Hamas surprise attack, which is a major warning to South Korea. It also said that there is no advantage in military capability when it comes to a surprise attack by the enemy. Park Han-kyu, the commander of South Korea's Gangdong Region, also said, "We will use this exercise to identify security problems and strengthen our defense against the terrorist threat from North Korea.
The report also pointed out that at the same time when South Korea launched its defense drills, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was attending the 9th plenary session of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party. At the meeting, Kim Jong-un ordered the military to speed up preparations to deal with the U.S.'s anti-North Korean plotting activities, a hostile attitude that has once again raised tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
