Ecuador Power Plant Collapse Kills 13
In Ecuador, a sudden collapse at a construction site of a hydroelectric power plant being built by a Chinese company has killed 13 people.
The Chinese embassy in Quito confirmed that 10 Ecuadorean and three Chinese workers were killed late Saturday at the construction site of the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric power plant when a wall collapsed.
The embassy said a dozen other workers were hurt at the site deep in Ecuador's Amazon jungle.
President Rafael Correa tweeted his condolences to the families of those killed.
The Chinese firm Sinohydro is building the 1,500-megawatt power plant, which is expected to cost more than $2 billion.
