Bangladesh Ferry Carrying About 200 People Sinks
Authorities in Bangladesh say an overloaded ferry carrying at least 200 passengers has sunk on a river in central Bangladesh.
Police said 50 passengers had been rescued after the boat sank Monday about 30 kilometers south of the capital, Dhaka.
Officials said few details are yet known about the cause of the accident or if there were many survivors.
Ferry accidents are common in Bangladesh because of poor safety standards for the vessels, which are often overloaded.
