Search for missing Israeli students ends in tragedy
It is with shock and sadness that Education International learnt of the deaths of three Israeli students abducted on 12 June as they travelled home from school.
In the strongest terms, EI condemns, in all circumstances, the killing of innocent civilians.
This tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the dangers many around the world face in simply going to school each day.
Education International offers its sincere condolences to the families and education communities, as well as Israel’s teacher unions that work to keep all students safe.
Despite this trying time, EI urges all parties to practice restraint, and to rely on authorities to carry out a thorough investigation to see that those responsible are brought to justice.
Once again, EI calls on all parties in the region to work toward lasting peace.
