Twin Blasts Hits Syrian Capital
Two bombs have exploded near a police station in the center of the Syrian capital, Damascus, killing at least 14 people.
The blasts morning hit the al-Marjeh Square area of the capital.
State television blamed "terrorist" suicide bombers for the explosions, and said 31 other people were injured. The Syrian government uses the term "terrorists" to refer to rebels fighting to oust President Bashar al-Assad.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights put the death toll at 15, many of them police officers.
The group said one of the blasts was a suicide bombing inside a police station, with the other explosion going off outside the building.
The Marjeh district has been the site of several bombings since the Syrian conflict began as peaceful protests in March 2011. A blast there in April killed at least 13 people and wounded 70 others.
