Octopus Paul has cost punters up to half a million quid
Octopus Paul has cost punters up to half a million quid after correctly backing Spain to beat Holland in the FIFA World Cup final.
According to The Sun, Paul ignored a Dutch flag and picked food from a jar bearing Spain's colours. The latter duly went on to win 1-0.
It completed an incredible winning streak for the Weymouth-born sea creature, who has now correctly predicted eight successive victories in the tournament from his aquarium in Germany - at cumulative odds of 3,000-1.
The tentacled tipster picked his adopted country to beat Australia, Ghana, England, Argentina and Uruguay, as well as picking Serbia and Spain to beat the Germans.
Bookies say they are the biggest suckers.
