Maiden Flight Success! SpaceX’s Starship V3 Survives a Thrilling Test Flight

SpaceX successfully launched its latest rocket, Starship V3, on the evening of the 22nd Eastern Time. Although one engine failed during flight and the vehicle ultimately overturned and exploded in the Indian Ocean, it still achieved a controlled splashdown, allowing the maiden flight test to conclude successfully.
Starship V3 lifted off successfully from Texas, United States, at 5:30 p.m. local time on the 22nd (6:30 a.m. Taiwan time on the 23rd). Despite an engine malfunction during flight, Starship V3 successfully deployed 20 Starlink satellite simulators. During the recovery process of the Super Heavy booster, some engines failed to reignite as planned, but the booster still made a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean before eventually overturning and exploding.
SpaceX stated that there had never been a plan to recover the booster during this mission. Therefore, the maiden flight mission of Starship V3 was still considered a success. This mission also marked the 12th overall flight test of the Starship program, coming after a seven-month wait for this first flight.
