The American space tourism industry has reached a new milestone! On the morning of April 14 (local time), Blue Origin successfully completed a suborbital flight mission with an all-female crew. Six outstanding women from various fields boarded the New Shepard rocket and embarked on an approximately 11-minute journey to the edge of space. Among them was world-renowned singer Katy Perry, symbolizing the growing presence and influence of women in space exploration.

The rocket launched from a site in Texas. About two minutes into the flight, the rocket separated from the crew capsule, which continued upward into a brief period of weightlessness. During the journey, the capsule crossed the Kármán line — widely regarded as the boundary of space, located about 100 kilometers above Earth's surface. The crew enjoyed breathtaking views of Earth and space through large observation windows and experienced the unique sensation of floating in microgravity. After the flight, the capsule made a smooth landing using parachutes and a retro-thrust system, returning safely to the ground.

After the mission was completed, the passengers disembarked one by one. Katy Perry emotionally kissed the ground as she exited the capsule, holding a flower that had accompanied her into space. She said the journey made her “feel a sense of trust and surrender to the unknown” and described it as an unparalleled peak in her life. She also joyfully revealed plans to write a new song inspired by the experience, firmly declaring, “I’m 100 percent going to write it.” During the flight, she spontaneously hummed the classic song *What a Wonderful World*, sharing a moving moment with the other crew members.

In addition to Katy Perry, the six passengers included Jeff Bezos’s fiancée Lauren Sánchez, renowned TV host Gayle King, space biologist and human rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, STEM entrepreneur Aisha Bowe, and producer Kerianne Flynn. All wore custom-designed space suits created through a collaboration between Sánchez and the fashion brand Monse. The cobalt-blue suits, adorned with the “Blue Origin” logo, combined style and function, showcasing a new perspective on women’s spacewear design.

Although Blue Origin did not disclose the actual ticket price for this journey, it is known that past seats have sold for up to $28 million. Some of the current passengers were invited by the company and did not pay for the trip. This flight coincided with the International Day of Human Space Flight, highlighting humanity’s ongoing ambition to reach
