Soyuz Spacecraft Successfully Docks with ISS, Carrying U.S. and Russian Astronauts
The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) announced that the "Soyuz MS-27" spacecraft, carrying two Russian and one American astronaut, has successfully arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) and completed docking. Since the breakdown of U.S.-Russia relations due to the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022, spaceflight remains one of the few areas of ongoing cooperation between the two countries.
According to foreign media reports, the Soyuz MS-27 was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 8:47 a.m. Moscow time on the 8th, entered its planned orbit, and successfully docked with the ISS. The Soyuz MS-27 is carrying the Expedition 73 crew members, including Russian cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Alexei Zubritsky, as well as NASA astronaut Jonathan Kim.
The report also noted that the mission crew will stay on the ISS for 245 days and carry out 50 scientific experiments. The spacecraft is scheduled to return to Earth on December 9, 2025.
