Chatbot "Lucie" Taken Down in Just 3 Days Due to Absurd Responses
The French artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot "Lucie," which went online on January 23, was taken down just three days later amid a wave of criticism due to its inability to meet users' needs and a series of nonsensical responses.
According to foreign media reports, "Lucie" provided error-ridden answers to users' questions, failing to distinguish that eggs and cows are unrelated, and incorrectly stating that cows lay eggs instead of giving birth to live offspring. Even simple mathematical calculations were inaccurate. These absurd responses quickly made the chatbot a target of ridicule.
Linagora, the tech company that developed "Lucie" in collaboration with the French government, admitted that the AI model was still in its early stages and acknowledged its shortcomings. The chatbot has been taken offline for updates, and thorough testing will be conducted before it is re-released. Linagora also stated that this is an academic research project primarily focused on demonstrating capabilities within shared resources in generative AI, rather than a consumer-grade commercial product.
