Canadian Taxpayers Federation reacts to Federal Court of Appeal decision on Trans Mountain pipeline expansion approval
Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) Federal Director Aaron Wudrick released the following statement in response to the Federal Court of Appeal's ruling on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion approval:
"Contrary to the claims of radical environmentalists, the decision of the Federal Court of Appeal to invalidate the federal government’s approval of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion is only an unfortunate temporary setback that risks costing taxpayers billions of dollars. This could have been avoided had that the Trudeau government not chosen to shift the risks of this project from private shareholders onto the backs of Canadian taxpayers.
We urge the Trudeau government to act quickly to begin a corrected consultation process in accordance with the court's ruling that it be 'brief and efficient while ensuring it is meaningful' in order to minimize cost to Canadian taxpayers."
