Northern Italy shaken by large quake
At least six people have died in an earthquake in
the Abruzzo region of Italy.
Centuries-old buildings and churches were felled across the region by the quake which was close to the city of Bologna.
The 5.1 magnitude earthquake occurred on Sunday morning about 35 kilometers northwest of the city, creating panic as rubble fell from old buildings.
Frightened residents ran into the streets, leaving their houses to the aftershocks which followed.
Many historic buildings and churches were reduced to piles of rubble.
The Italian culture ministry has said some of the buildings were 1,500 years old.
