90 percent Pakistanis consider their surroundings unsafe: Survey
Over 90 percent of people in Pakistan consider their region unsafe, a survey has revealed.
According to survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan for the Gilani Research Foundation, an overwhelming majority of Pakistani civilians consider the area they live in unsafe.
The survey showed that over the past 25 years fear about lack of safety and security has increased tremendously among Pakistanis.
In 1985, a similar poll had found that only 45 percent believed that their area was not safe enough, The Nation quoted the survey, as revealing.
According to the survey conducted in 1985, 19 percent of people percent considered their area 'extremely' safe to walk for a few miles alone at night, while 26 percent considered it reasonably secure.
Over 2500 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country participated in the latest survey, which was conducted in June.
