Famous art restored in Italian capital
The restored Resurrection of Lazarus, a painting by Caravaggio, has been restored and hung in the Italian capital.
The masterpiece will be showcased in Palazzo Braschi until July 15, 2012 following its expensive restoration.
The painting was created in Sicily in 1609 and first hung in a Messina church.
Restoration experts took six months to finish their work on the large scale painting.
The Resurrection of Lazarus depicts the story in the Gospel of St John in which Lazarus is raised from the dead.
Caravaggio painted the piece on six pieces of canvas that were then sewn together to reach its full size.
