China: World Bank to support climate smart agriculture and urban transport

The World Bank Board of Executive Directors approved four loans totaling US$520 million to the People’s Republic of China to support development of climate-resilient sustainable agriculture, control of agricultural pollution, and improvement of the quality of life for rural and urban residents through provision of rural infrastructure and urban transport systems.

First of the Arctic 30 leaves Russia

The Arctic 30 are leaving Russia. Swedish activist Dima Litvinov is on a train and heading for the border. He will enter Finland at 20:30 local time (17:30 GMT).

Good news on Christmas Day for Arctic 30

The final chapter in the legal ordeal of the Arctic 30 began as the group was asked to attend a meeting at Russia’s powerful Investigative Committee, where the criminal case against them is being dropped en masse.

They will then have one more hurdle – securing exit visas in their passports – before the non-Russians are free to leave the country and be reunited with their families. A meeting with the Federal Migration Service is scheduled. The Arctic 30 are expected to leave Russia in the coming days.
