Is the Grapple a healthy snack or just a step away from candy?

The Education World Forum (EWF) is the internationally recognised ministerial forum for debating future practice in education. On January 10th, Irina Bokova, the Director-General of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO), spoke at one of the meetings.

Three-quarters of the population in Afghanistan has low literacy or none at all, and the national police force is no exception. This is why the UNESCO Kabul Office launched a programme in June 2011 entitled: “Literacy for Empowering Afghan Police - LEAP”.

The year 2011 saw UNESCO launch many important education initiatives. It included a symbolic return by the international community to Jomtien, Thailand, to give a new impetus to the EFA movement which first began there 20 years ago.

What's known as Middle School No. 8 in Leander, Texas, was supposed to help relieve overcrowding in the rapidly growing community. But after significant statewide cuts to education, the district can't afford to open the school.

Many minority children face a language barrier

Most fragile states will not reach the Millennium Development Goals
