Britain's Oldest Human Footprints Found on Beach
British scientists, exploring a beach on the country's east coast, discovered what they believe are the oldest human footprints outside of Africa. They are estimated to be close to one million years old and are believed to be the oldest evidence of humans in northern Europe.

Four Australian films selected to screen at SXSW
Four Australian films have been selected to screen at the 2014 South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival in Austin, Texas. Writer/directors Michael and Peter Spierig’s Predestination, directors Angus Sampson and Tony Mahony’s The Mule, and writer/director Hugh Sullivan’s The Infinite Man will have their world premiere screenings. Kitty Green’s feature documentary Ukraine Is Not a Brothel will also screen at the festival.

Pivot and Univision acquire exclusive U.S. TV rights to ‘Cesar’s last fast’ prior to its Sundance film festival debut
Pivot, the cable network from Participant Media targeting Generation Y, and Univision News, the award-winning news division of Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, have acquired the U.S. TV rights to ‘Cesar’s Last Fast’ from Richard Ray Perez and Lorena Parlee in advance of its world debut at the Sundance Film Festival. The deal marks the first of ten documentaries to be co-produced or acquired by Pivot and Univision News (and Latin World Entertainment) as part of a previously announced alliance. The documentary will premiere simultaneously in English and Spanish on the two networks – Pivot and the Univision Network– respectively. The announcement was made by Evan Shapiro, President, Pivot and Isaac Lee, President of Univision News and CEO of Fusion.

Umeå in Sweden and Riga in Latvia are Europe's Cultural Capitals for 2014. Inaugurated in 1985 in Athens, Cultural Capitals highlight the diversity and richness of European culture while also fostering a European identity. More than 40 cities around Europe have already had the honour and since 2011 two cities from two different EU countries share the title each year.
