Myanmar government allows tax concessions
Myanmar has decided to exempt rice, pulses, corn, sesame, rubber, freshwater and saltwater products and some animal products from export tax.
An extension of a previous tax exemption was made during the week, with the new dates effective from 15th February through 14th July.
Last year the Myanmar Ministry of Commerce decided to give the tax break after the US dollar depreciated, causing losses to exporters.
In the 1st 9 months of 2011-2012, Myanmar exported about 533,000 tons of rice.
