EPA Region 7 conducted a Record Keeping Inspection at Dynamic Porch & Patio., an Independence, Mo., remodeling company, in July 2014, which revealed violations of the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule. Dynamic Porch & Patio builds and installs insulated roofs, add-ons, pergolas, decks, and replaces siding. The company has agreed to pay a $5,559 civil penalty to settle allegations that it violated the RRP Rule.

EPA settles with Gly-Tek, Inc. (Idaho) for delayed sulfuric acid spill reporting
Gly-Tek, Inc., a food additive formulator in Twin Falls, Idaho, has agreed to settle with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for violations of both the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) or Superfund cleanup law, in November of 2014. The violations occurred following a 24,700 pound release of a 50% sulfuric acid solution at their facility. The settlement includes a $25,000 penalty.

DuPont Fined for Air Pollution at Deepwater, New Jersey
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday that E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company (DuPont), has been fined $531,000 for alleged Clean Air Act violations at its chemical manufacturing plant in Deepwater, New Jersey. The EPA fined DuPont for improper maintenance and repair of two large refrigeration units.

UNICEF and WFP partner to help vulnerable Syrian families in Za’atari and Azraq camps protect their children against the winter cold
As Jordan braces for a winter storm in the next few days, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in partnership with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) launched a winter cash assistance programme on 7 January 2015 to provide 41,000 vulnerable Syrian refugee children under the age of 14 in Za’atari and Azraq refugee camps with 14 Jordanian Dinars (JOD) each, to allow their families to get them winter clothes.
